SITUATION

Early 2004: US Army forces have had to pull back from the Iraqi town of Dayr Hafir due to heavy insurgent activity. With the town surrounded and cut off for the last few days, local battalion command has decided to put troops into action once again and incur into the town. One of such incursions is targeted towards the infamous main road of the town, where most of the coalition troops were hit during the retreat. The soldiers nicknamed it the alleyway of shattered aspirations.

BRIEFING

Rifle platoon 3/2 is staged at the suburbs of Dayr Hafir, mounted on HMMWVs. A USAF A-10, callsign Dagger 1-1 as well as a JTAC have been attached to the platoon. The A-10 won’t be able to get on station until a nearby insurgent AAA site somewhere in the outskirts of town is located and destroyed. Afterwards, the platoon is to proceed into the city itself.. The main objective for the platoon is to get to the main road at the center of town, taking out targets of opportunity along the way. These targets can range from insurgent weapon caches in buildings that need explosive disposal (explosives in CO vic), militant outpost buildings that need clearing or intel that points to further objectives.
Enemy forces are well equipped and consist of insurgents using equipment captured from the army.


OBJECTIVES:

Find and eliminate AAA threat.
Secure the alleyway of broken aspirations.
Complete targets of opportunity as they arise.
Further tasks may be provided by company CO.
