Why Scania Made A V8?

Speaking of trucks, there is hardly any engine more typical for a brand than the Scania V8. Currently, it is produced in the second generation and demand after does not calm down. In countries with a higher load limit than 40-ton as in the EU, such as Italy or Scandinavian countries, it is a preferable power unit. With the latest 770 hp and 3,700 Nm engine, it has a lot to offer, but where does the original idea to create it even come from?
