The cairn circle of Moel Ty Uchaf stands high on a hill near Llandrillo. It consists of 41 stones of varying proportions with a central cist and an outlying stone near the monument, I also found other stones in close proximity to the circle which gave positive pendulum dowsing results, suggesting they to where part of the overall complex although their purpose will remain a mystery lost in time. There are a number of stones just over the edge of the embankment but only one gave a positive reading, i never noticed anything concerning this stone at the time except the exceptional intensity of the dowsing but when i got home and collated the pictures from the site, that particular stone resembles quite unnervingly an alien face 👽 I’ve never seen such a striking image appearing naturally in a stone before, could this mean an extraterrestrial connection to this sacred site ?? The mind boggles.
I had heard the monument was hard find but this really wasn’t the case, it’s a hell of a slog from the car but super straightforward to find. Initially upon arrival at the road leading part way up I made a fatal mistake, I tried to drive up as far as I could, the road was not only way to steep for my car but the potholes were insane, which meant I had to reverse all the way back down, so if visiting park in the space before the narrow road starts, and be prepared for a slog. The steep tarmac road ends at a gate, simply enter through the gate and follow the obvious track until you come to a stone on trackside, I somehow knew intuitively it was some kind of marker, I can’t explain why, I just instantly had a feeling as soon as it came into view, it literally points to the hilltop where the circle is situated, you can see the flattened grass path leading up but no sign of the monument at that point, which heightens the feeling of anticipation for the first time visitor, although quite steep it’s a short walk from the marker stone, my pendulum reacted straight away to the marker which suggested to me it was a specifically placed stone so up I went, as I got to the top and caught my first sight of the circle I was blown away, wow, I’ve seen pictures and videos but they can never prepare you for that rush of adrenaline and emotion when your eyes feast on it for the first time, as you approach past the outliner stone you immediately envisage its ritualistic ceremonial prowess, its placement on the hilltop, how it commands immediate respect, the monument is simply spectacular, pictures do not in any way do it justice, the impact it has on the visitor is spellbinding to say the least, its circumference, is vastness, the views from its precipice are mesmerising, every stone except one gave extraordinarily intense reactions to the pendulum, which could either be explained by the fact that tonight is the full moon, the sturgeon moon no less, and therefore at optimum power, or this monument emits an energy of which I have yet to experience, seeing as there are so many stones generating the power I should have tried charging my phone !! 😊
Whatever the explanation when you enter the circle it’s as though you are entering a vortex of un fathomable energy and although it was exceptionally windy the pendulum still spun with such an intensity I reckon if I’d let it go it still would have kept spinning!! There was however one stone that gave no reaction, in fact the pendulum went from high intense spinning to almost dead stop, just dangling and bobbing about in the wind, the stone in question is on the Eastern side of the monument but just inside the circle as if it had at some point been displaced. (Please excuse any inaccuracies concerning compass bearings I literally had to rely on the compass on my iPhone )😫
Also the central cist emitted a higher than usual reaction suggesting once again its specific placement as with the circle itself and all the significant stones connected with it are in perfect alignment with the universe and all the magic associated with it.
All in all this is an absolutely amazing monument to explore and I will definitely be returning, I was completely overwhelmed on my initial visit and therefore need to go again if not only for the sheer indulgence of the experience it offers, I can’t even begin to imagine what it must have felt like being there during ancient ceremonies, the stones illuminated by fire, the performance of rituals, the noise, the people, the absolute beginnings of human understanding of natures magical forces, our ancient folklore and mythology is littered with tales of Witches and Wizards and their ability to harness and manipulate such forces, it is my sincerest belief that these monuments act as portals connecting us to the unseen realms from which this magic is derived. As with so many sites of this nature Moel Ty Uchaf truly releases the imagination of the visitor.
