Woodturning - Leylandii.. The UK's LEAST Desirable Wood!

Welcome back to Ian Mac Woodturning! In this week's video, I transformed a lovely lump of Leylandii! In the UK it is widely considered that Leylandii is undesirable for both making things out of and burning, the latter is due to the wood being quite sappy like Pine and therefore doesn't make it a great option for firewood. In regards to using Leylandii to make things out of, I personally can't fault it! It's incredibly durable and easy to work with, minimal cracking and warping and never really causes me any issues.

This particular piece was cut up from a large log that I'd left outside of my house, it has had the sun beaming on it for months with frequent spells of rain and even hail but the wood was still pretty dry somehow and managed to get by with only a little bit of cracking in there!
