Collaborative projects with industry are like gold to a University but can come with a steep price tag to a company or organization when you involve a Principal Investigator and graduate students. So many undergraduates are eager to try their hand at research but don't always have a relationship with a professor who can utilize their skills. Middle Tennessee State University CIM Program started a required Senior Research course where they would solicit industry projects that could be accomplished with undergraduates over a short period of time. Dr. Bruce Suprenant loved this research outlet and would brainstorm practical data sets he thought the industry needed to prove something in ACI committee work or through his technical role with ASCC. MTSU became a willing partner in providing lots of students to do the necessary grunt work. He and Ward Malisch lovingly called this work "low tech research" and the partnership could not have been more fruitful for both parties. This presentation is a collection of a few projects that were a result of Bruce Suprenant spending time passing the research torch to young people.
