This week's ASB Good as Gold recipient is Paula Bloomfield.

Paula is the embodiment of community spirit in Upper Hutt, where she recently concluded her teaching at Heretaunga College, is a beloved Cub leader for the Akatarawa Scout Group, and serves as President, Education Officer, and Session Supervisor at Totara Park Playcentre. In 2023, Paula was diagnosed with bladder cancer, yet she has remained fiercely committed to making a difference raising money for the Cancer Society by participating in and leading Relay for Life teams and organising quiz nights. Despite receiving the news that her cancer is now terminal, Paula continues to put the needs of others before her own, uplifting those around her with her vibrant energy and unwavering generosity.

Her impact on the Upper Hutt community is profound, and in recognition of her incredible spirit and joy she brings to so many, ASB is honoured to award Paula $10,000 as this week’s ASB Good as Gold recipient.
