On November 2, 2013, my friends, Billy, Josh and Dave, ventured on what is said to be one of the most difficult hikes in North America. With close to 10,500 feet of elevation gain over the course of 15.5 miles from Palm Springs to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, this hike is not for the faint of heart or weak of legs. It's brutal. Not to mention the danger of heat exhaustion and dehydration along the way.

You have to dress for hot temps (upwards of 110+ in the summer) for the lower elevations when the sun rises, but be prepared for sub-freezing temps at the summit. It really is a tough hike that no rookie should attempt.

We travelled from Palm Springs to the summit of Mt. San Jacinto, then back down to the tram. Round trip was just shy of 20 miles according to Strava, but over 20 according to watches and Garmin Connect. Next on the list is to do the Cactus to Clouds to Cactus!

Our total moving time was under 7 hours, but we took a few breaks for video, pics and food. Good luck and be safe!
