ANNOUNCING GALACTIC 02

On August 10, Virgin Galactic invites you to watch the live-streamed launch of our first private astronaut mission, Galactic 02. This extraordinary mission will propel us into the new space age, where we are breaking down barriers and enabling more people to experience the transformative power of space.

We’re honored to introduce the crew of Galactic 02 – Three incredible individuals who will realize their dreams of seeing Earth from space on August 10.

SpaceShipTwo will perform a take-off from Spaceport America, New Mexico. At about 45,000 feet, it will be released, and the rocket engine will ignite, which burns for around 45 seconds. This will push SpaceShipTwo on a velocity of Mach 3,7 and to an altitude between 80 and 90 km (262, 467 ft, and 295,276 ft). In US national definitions, the boundary to space starts at 80 km. The international border to space is the Karman-Line, which is 100 km (328,084 ft).

The live stream is expected to start at 9:00 a.m. MDT, 11:00 a.m. EDT, 15:00 UTC/GMT, and 17:00 CEST but can be postponed in time or shifted to another date.
