One every Oscars red carpet there also comes the Oscars worst dressed list — the one Hollywood list you never want to make. The 2018 Academy Awards "worst dressed" list includes a number of beloved stars — even a few typical fashion favorites — who learned that film's biggest celebration does not necessarily overshadow any crimes committed against fashion.

Just like the 2018 Golden Globes red carpet failures, fashion fails from the 2018 Oscars feature some of the most head-turning and head-scratching looks of the evening. Try as they might to make a statement, the worst Oscar dresses usually end up making mistakes instead. But not all of the fashion missteps at the 2018 Academy Awards count as complete disasters; some stars just took a risk on the red carpet that, like James Franco's campaign for an Oscar, simply failed to take off.

And it should be noted that the only reason hardly any men even make the list this year because it seemed as though no one cared enough to even try. Though we're all certainly wishing them the best of luck next year, each of these worst-dressed stars at the 2018 Oscars at least deserve recognition for trying something new on the same old carpet.
