EGO 56V Blower BLDC Speed Controller Retrofit

Blower is still running strong, no issues at all. I need to do a update video since it has worked well so long. I know we are running the controller and BLDC very hard, but with the high volume of forced air it seems to do fine. I also wanted to mention that the way I soldered the potentiometer on the board is not needed. You can simply use the terminal labeled PWM. I tried to add my own PWM in this terminal and had no luck. Come to find out a simple 0-5V is all it needs here. depending on the board labeled V/P. Default for mine was jumper pads unsoldered and is for Voltage input, then just remove push in jumper by the onboard pot. Hope it helps!

In this video we take the Cheap BLDC Controller and install it into the EGO 56V Blower as a retrofit for the original controller that was beyond repair. This controller was actually cheaper than the parts to attempt repair of the original (mainly due to shipping cost or having to buy in quantity) We had several viewers ask about the possibly using this controller to run the Blower so we make it happen. We also take a few minutes to look at a issue I caused on the controller when I changed the way the capacitor was connected to the board. We also spend a few minutes looking at a possible MOV solution for the bus if we have any more over-voltage spikes. Then lastly we look at another optional board under $20 that is rated for up to 72V and looks promising as well. ** Of course these BLDC controllers don't have Low Cut-Off protection of the battery pack. We could add it but the several packs I have run down with it, I can easily tell when the voltage drops below around 42V. You can absolutely tell the tone difference as well as the power reduction. A quick look at the pack shows the blinking red LED, you know to swap it out!
