~ Here i place my favourite song from the groups performance on the kqed t.v. programme 'come up the years' february 8th '67....this achingly beautiful tune will haunt your mind for days as it did mine...tor olson certainly had an ear for melody again demostrating his unusual guitar technique which has the group members listening intently so that improvisation's can be built on olson's sublime playing....formed in novato '66 they quickly made their mark in and around the ballrooms of san francisco and it surprises me that recordings were never carried out? some labe'sl showed interest but 'A&M' finally won out and it's here that things take a strange turn...as a friend of the channel adrian contacted me with a 'acetate' he had in his collection of various 'demo's' laid down with a new line-up of the band with session drummer jerry granelli/tor olson/kay olson and bassist phil? november 2nd '67 at 'coast recorders' this was all carried out after both pat hunt & mike aragon had departed the band in october of that year ...but more on that at a later date...we have on the channel a track from that acetate 'sunny side of the egg' and its here i have to thank pat hunt & phil hirsch of the group for putting their collective heads together and naming the tracks! the track you hear & see is 'ballad in d'...i have carried out my own edit of the groups performance and interviews...
