Heavy rains lashed Chennai and other regions of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, leading to flooding in several residential areas and traffic congestions. IMD has issued a red alert for parts of the state, predicting “isolated extremely heavy rainfall” for the next 24 hours along with warnings for “very heavy rainfall” on October 17 and 18. Heavy rain also continues in Bengaluru with an Orange alert in the city for the coming days. The continuos rain has once again exposed the pothole problem in the tech city even as the BBMP tries to deal with the menace.
