Mario Kart DS: World Championships 2024 - Official Trailer

The MKDS: World Championships 2024 is a Mario Kart DS online tournament which offers brackets for Singles (1v1) and Doubles (2v2). You need to be able to connect to Wiimmfi to join the competition. If you don’t know how to connect, this document shows how:

The Singles tournament is split into 3 groups, so that a fair competition can be held:
In Group 1 (Beginner), snaking is banned (all matches must be played without the usage of Mini-Turbos).
In Group 2 (Intermediate), PRB is banned and cannot be used.
In Group 3 (Advanced), there is no restriction on the techniques a player can use at their advantage.

The Doubles tournament offers just 1 unrestricted Group.
You may join multiple groups if you want to.

The tournament will start on July 1, but you will be able to join only between June 16 and June 30.

1) Tournament Rules

1.1 - Structure
A direct-elimination “tournament” with 2 brackets will be played for each group. Matches will be played at least every 3 days for Singles, 5 days for Doubles. The Tournament Organizers will take up to a day to publish standings.

1.2 - Set Procedure
At 18:00 UTC of every match day, all of the participants will be added to a thread where they can set a date for their match and exchange Friend Codes with their opponent(s). Once the matches are complete, both parties are asked to send a picture of the awards screen for proof reasons.

2) Prizes
The winners of each group will receive a gift card for a service of their choice between Amazon, Nintendo eShop, Google Play Store, Instant Gaming and Steam.

The gift cards are worth:
- $100 for Group 3;
- $50 for Group 2;
- $20 for Group 1;
- $25 for each player of Doubles.

Gift cards for other services can be requested and accepted or declined at the staff's discretion.

3) How to Join the Event
The Tournament is hosted on MKDS Network (  / discord  .

To join Singles, you need to go to the "wc2024-join" channel and write mk!wc, followed by the number of the group you are joining.
Example: if you want to join Group 2, write “mk!wc 2”.

JOINING DOUBLES REQUIRES A MANUAL PROCESS: go to the "wc2024-doubles" channel and send a message indicating you want to join the tournament and including who your partner is going to be. This is done to ensure that both players intend to join together under the same team.
In case you do not have a partner, you can recruit and ask if anyone is available to play with you in the same channel.
