Engin Akyürek - Zeybek (HD)

Zeybek. Es una danza del Egeo turco donde los bailarines con atuendos vistosos, denominados efe, simbolizan el coraje y el heroísmo.

El término zeybek se forma a partir de dos palabras, zag y bek . Zag es una antigua palabra turca que significa "sabio" y bek significa "comprensión". El Zeybek es, por tanto, un hombre valiente, sabio, emprendedor y protector.

A Mustafa Kemal Atatürk le gustó mucho este baile. Durante una velada en Bursa, después del vals, le pidió al director que tocara un zeybek, y dijo: "Como el mundo moderno tiene el vals, nosotros los turcos tenemos el zeybek".

The term zeybek is formed from two words, zag and bek. Zag is an ancient Turkish word that means "wise" and bek means "understanding." The Zeybek is, therefore, a brave, wise, enterprising and protective man.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk really liked this dance. During an evening in Bursa, after the waltz, he asked the conductor to play a zeybek, and said, "As the modern world has the waltz, we Turks have the zeybek."
