BMX Simulator — Codemasters (C64 full cassette-load VICE 50Hz no commentary)

Описание к видео BMX Simulator — Codemasters (C64 full cassette-load VICE 50Hz no commentary)

This video is the full six minutes of loading from tape (which finishes at 6:15), as well as gameplay from the Codemasters game BMX Simulator, released for the C64 in 1986. This was a budget release, distributed by Mastertronic. My main video of this game, that skips all the loading, is here:    • BMX Simulator — Codemasters  (C64  VI...

The gameplay of BMX Simulator is quite simple: hold fire to pedal around the track for the required number of laps, using left and right movements of the stick to steer left and right (you can use the banked corners to assist in your turns), all the time trying to avoid collisions with your opponent. Make it around the track within the allotted time to progress to the next track.

For the one player game the computer opponent travels along a pre-set path. Their path isn't always perfect. There may be the occasional time they crash, or wander off the track. But they will always do this at the same point on specific tracks. The behaviour of the computer player never varies. So you merely have to avoid touching them and, if you know they're going to make a mistake, be ready to use that to your advantage.

The two player version of the game is more interesting, as you'll be dealing with unexpected behaviour from your opponent. The game gives you the option for either keyboard or joystick controls for either player.
