Salil Gupte, Boeing India President, interacts with ET Infra on the sidelines of Aero India 2023

Description: Boeing India President Salil Gupte in an interaction with ET Infra’s aviation correspondent Dev Kachari talked about the aircraft manufacturer’s increased involvement in the Indian aviation market, wherein it is working on building a robust ecosystem with its airline clients and MRO partners.

Air India recently placed an order for 470 aircraft, out of which Boeing will deliver 220 aircraft, both narrow-body and wide-body planes.

Gupte stated that Boeing expects over 2,200 aircraft coming into the Indian market over the next 20 years, driven by the Indian economy and growth of the Indian middle class.

Boeing wants to ensure that the ecosystem is there in India for Boeing aircraft, through support and maintenance, and bring India at par with major MRO hubs such as Singapore and Dubai, said Gupte.

As the need for global MRO capacity increases, Boeing with Indian MRO partners such as Air Works, GMR, Air-India Engineering Services Ltd is working to meet the requirement, Gupte said.

At Aero India 2023, Boeing announced investment in a new logistics center in India to cater to its regional customers, maintain higher fleet utilization and mission readiness rates.
