सारे जानवर इकट्ठे हुए थे। बात चल रही थी कि खतरे में अपनी जान कैसे बचाएँ? देर तक बहस चली। अंत में सबको बंदर की सलाह ठीक लगी। बंदर की सलाह थी कि खतरे के समय ‘सिर पर पैर रखकर भागना सबसे अच्छा है।
बातचीत समाप्त हुई और सारे जानवर अपने-अपने ठिकाने चले गए। सिर्फ़ साँप एक-दूसरे का मुँह ताकते देर तक वहीं बैठे रहे।
