Accused in Mullaitivu: The Search for Tamil Submarines 🇱🇰

MULLAITIVU, SRI LANKA: I left Jaffna and made my way to a rarely travelled area of Sri Lanka. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this certainly wasn't on the menu for today's adventure - The Search for the Tamil Submarines.

Our first stop is Elephant Pass - the only place in Sri Lanka where you can see both the sunrise and sunset. It's also the location of an important moment in the Sri Lankan civil war.

Heading onward to Maullaitivu, I get stopped by the police. This won't be the first time - the latter including a serious accusation which frankly concerned me and had me questioning my choice of destination.

I chose Mullaitivu because the journey from Jaffna to Trincomalee is a long one and so figured best to break up the journey. Not only that, but I learnt that Mullaitivu is home to a famous shipwreck thanks to the LTTE (Tamil Tigers) and also a mysterious submarine yard where experimental submersibles were being built to make attacks during the war.
