Traditional Stone Carving Techniques- Bavaria GS and F&K Pneumatic Hammers for Stone Carving Video 2

Sculptor AC Button II of http://www.carolinasculpturestudio.com discusses F&K brand and Bavaria brand pneumatic hand machines used for stone carving. The goal of the Traditional Stone Carving and Traditional Stone Finishing videos is to preserve this heritage craft by preparing individuals for further in-studio training and apprenticeship.

In this video, Button provides specific comment and overview of pistol-grip Bavaria GS series and the Froelich + Kluepfel or F&K brand pneumatic hammers designed for carving stone. Since producing this video, Button learned that the three unmarked hammers that he believed to be F&K hammers are actually Bavaria GS hammers. Both brands of these hammers are relatively uncommon in the USA. Thank you to @dainiusdaugela2217 for educating all of us about the different brands.

Different versions, in terms of size, tooling, manufacturing design and materials of construction, are presented and compared. General operation is discussed, including adjustment of the trigger to moderate speed of operation. Recommendation of use and need of a more durable steel bushing at the air inlet is made to help users better preserve their hammer. A quick disassembly/reassembly is shown as a primer for cleaning and general machine evaluation. He provides his view on related ergonomics and how the design may impact users when compared to other pneumatic hammers used for stone carving.
