This is Part 2, "The Primal Horde," from Episode Three: Nature versus Nurture in my YouTube series The Hidden: A Conversation about the idea of the Unconscious. In this segment, after exploring Freud's structural model of Ego, Id, and Superego, we discuss Freud's concept of the primal horde from "Totem and Taboo" as it relates to his description of the Id. Following the history of the concept, we compare his thought to current understandings of hunter-gatherer cultures.
