“Long Day’s Journey into Night” is a play by Eugene O’Neil. The setting of the play is “Living room of the Tyrones' summer home” in 1912 during the span of a single day: Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Midnight. Depicting American Realism, the autobiographical play was published in 1956 posthumously by O’Neill’s wife. O’Neill had survived consumption, while his father and brother were alcoholics and his mother suffered from morphine addiction.
