In Super Mario RPG for the SNES. there's an Easter Egg that takes some effort to find, and it involves the Apprentice Snifits in Booster Pass.

After you've opened the cliff section of Booster Pass by pressing the button in Booster Tower, you can find an Apprentice Snifit hopping from rock to rock.

If you encounter this Apprentice, he informs Mario that he may be promoted to Snifit 4 if he beats Mario. Well, if you let him beat you in combat, you won't even get a real Game Over. Instead, you will be face down on the cliff, and the Snifit will gleefully exclaim that he is going to be promoted! Your party will all be down to 1 HP, but you can still continue from where you left off in Booster Pass.

If you climb Booster Tower, however, you will find the Apprentice has now been promoted to Snifit 4, and he will have some dialogue if you speak to him.

After losing to the Apprentice, however, you can go back to the same area of Booster Pass to find another Apprentice who says he might be promoted to Snifit 5 if he beats Mario. In fact, you can keep fighting and losing to the four more Apprentices, and the last one says he will be promoted to Snifit 8!

Going back to Booster Tower after losing to five Apprentices reveals that four of them have been promoted to Snifits 4 through 7, but the last one was never promoted AND HE FEELS CHEATED.
