🍗Fried Chicken ("karaage" in Japanese)
Ingredients (serves 2)
Chicken thigh meat: 2 pieces (about 400-500g)
Ginger: 1 piece (about 10g)
Potato starch: 3 tbsp
Flour: 2 tbsp
Lemon: as needed
Frying oil: as needed
Soy sauce: 2 tbsp
Instructions:
1. Cut chicken thigh meat into bite-sized pieces (3-4 cm squares). Place in a bowl, add 2 tbsp soy sauce, ginger, and pepper.
2. Add 3 tbsp potato starch and 2 tbsp flour. Mix well.
3. Heat frying oil to 160-170°C. Fry chicken about 3-4 minutes. Remove from oil.
4. Let chicken rest for 4-5 minutes. Please serve with lemon wedges if desired!
🍙Tuna rice balls (“onigiri” in Japanese)
Ingredients (serves 2)
Rice: 400g
Canned tuna in oil (80g): 1 can
Mayonnaise: 2 tbsp
Soy sauce: 2 tsp
Sesame oil: a bit
Seaweed sheets
Instructions:
1. Mix canned tuna in oil, mayonnaise, and soy sauce in a bowl.
2. Mix a bit of sesame oil and soy sauce into the rice.
3. Put the tuna mixture on the rice and wrap it with seaweed. Done!
🍙Tuna grilled rice balls (“yaki-onigiri” in Japanese)
1. Mix canned tuna in oil, mayonnaise, and soy sauce.
2. Place the tuna on rice and shape it into triangles.
3. In a heated frying pan, thinly brush the sauce made by mixing soy sauce and sugar.
4. Once it's crispy, it's ready to serve.
🍖Teriyaki Chicken
Ingredients:
Chicken thighs or breasts, 500g
Soy sauce, 1/4 cup
Mirin, 1/4 cup
Sugar, 2 tbsp
Butter 10g
potato starch(or flour), 2 tbsp
Instructions:
1. Sprinkle potato starch on both sides of the chicken.
2. Fry the skin in a frying pan. The key is to bake at a low temperature.
3. Mix together soy sauce, mirin, sugar to make the sauce.
4. Cook the chicken on medium heat, flipping occasionally until both sides are browned and cooked through.
5. Once cooked, add the sauce to the pan and simmer until slightly thickened.
🧀Cheese-Stuffed Pork Cutlets
Ingredients (serves 1-2)
Sliced pork: 3 slices
Slice of cheese: 1 slice
Flour: 2 tbsp
Egg: 1
Breadcrumbs: 3 tbsp
Oil
Instructions:
1. Stack three slices of pork and roll the cheese inside. Dust with flour.
2. Mix 1 tbsp flour with the beaten egg. Dip the pork rolls into the mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs.
3. Fry in oil heated to 170°C until crispy.
4. Cut into bite-sized pieces and serve!
🥩Hamburger Steak(“Hamburg” in Japanese)
Ingredients (serves 2-3)
Ground meat: about 250g
Onion: 1
Breadcrumbs: 5 tbsp
Milk: 40ml
Egg: 1
Salt: 1/3 tsp
Pepper: a pinch
Instructions:
1. Finely chop and sauté onion.
2. Mix ground meat with salt, pepper, egg, milk, and breadcrumbs.
3. Shape into 2-3 patties. Brown both sides in a pan, then add 50ml water and steam.
4. Once cooked, optionally add cheese on top!
🍖Stir-fried pork and onions
Ingredients:
Chicken thighs or breasts, 500g
Soy sauce, 1/4 cup
Mirin, 1/4 cup
Sugar, 2 tbsp
Instructions:
1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
2. Mix together soy sauce, mirin, sugar to make the sauce.
3. Cook the chicken on medium heat, flipping occasionally.
4. Once cooked, add the sauce to the pan and simmer until slightly thickened.
🥬Sautéed Spinach with Bacon
Ingredients:
Spinach
Bacon
Soy sauce
Instructions:
1. Wash and boil spinach. Cut bacon into bite-sized pieces.
2. Heat olive oil in a pan, add spinach and bacon.
3. Season with soy sauce and serve!
