We Didn't Expect This in Kyoto 🇯🇵

Kyoto is the cultural heart of Japan with many shrines and temples, bamboo groves, small neighbourhoods, food markets and shopping streets to visit. It was the capital of Japan for over 1000 years and unlike many other cities in the world, where the top sights are clustered in the historic city center, inn Kyoto, the shrines and temples sit on the outskirts of the city, on the lush hillsides and mountains that surround the city. We begin our exploration at Kinkakuji, also known as the Golden Pavillion, a Zen Buddhist temple whose top floors are completely covered in gold leaf. We then cycle to the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, also known as Bamboo Forest, and after stopping off to get pork katsu for lunch wander through its otherworldly bamboo laden windy paths. At the end of the forest we come across a beautiful river and as light begins to fade head home after another great day in Japan.
