Our latest endeavor, known as the Outreach Project, is now in motion.

Presenting the Earthquake Awareness and Education Program (EAEP). At this juncture, it's worth highlighting that this project has secured a grant from SEG, with potential sponsorship from BP. The EAEP, a brainchild of SEG ASOIU/UFAZ, spans 6 weeks and aims to raise awareness about geophysical and geological techniques to mitigate earthquake disasters in the Republic of Türkiye's 10 provinces: Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Kahramanmarash, Malatya, Adiyaman, Hatay, Adana, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, and Kilis.

The primary objective of the project is to find sustainable solutions to the pressing challenges posed by earthquakes in Türkiye. Additionally, it seeks to underscore the crucial role of geoscience in this endeavor.

The project's timeline encompasses 5 distinct phases. Beginning in early October, we will engage with schools, followed by an open-door event at UFAZ. This will be accompanied by hands-on experiences with geophysical instruments (Seismic refraction, GPR, Gradiometer, etc.) for selected schoolchildren. A captivating field trip to Shamakhi is also on the agenda. Finally, in the second week of November 2023, the program will re-engage with communities and schools. The aim is to ensure the smooth operation of subchapters, gauge the program's impact, and maintain a high level of community awareness regarding geosciences.
