Liverpool have not held talks with RB Leipzig regarding a move for Germany international Timo Werner.

The Reds' have been heavily linked with the striker, who is believed to have a £52m release clause in his contract that is set to expire in June.

Reports on Wednesday night suggested Liverpool had withdrawn from talks to sign the 24-year-old, refusing point blank to part with such a fee for his services amid the current financial uncertainty.

However, the ECHO understands that is not the case as the club has not held talks with Leipzig regarding Werner, though Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a fan of the forward.
