This video from a shallow rainforest stream near Badureliya in a remaining patch of rainforest in Sri Lanka reveals the Black ruby barb (Pethiya nigrofasciatus) along with its natural neighbours, Rasboroides vatelofloris (the orange rasbora), Rasbora pallidus (the green rasbora), Puntius kelumi (the slow moving, less colourful bottom feeding barb), Belontia signata (makes rare, shy appearances, like a gourami with red fins) and also Cherry barbs (Puntius titteya). There are male, female and immature rubies and all this is absolutely naturally filmed. I did put a little food to encourage them. Enjoy!
