In this presentation Doug Walker takes us through a brief history of Treasure Island which starts with the first use as a scouting facility over 100 years ago. He discusses the floods that battered the island and led to the Cradle of Liberty Council making the ultimate decision to sell the camp. Then he tells us about the new owners who have opened the camp up to private camping as well as donating its use for scouts. Since 2018 over 9,000 scouts have camped on Treasure Island. Volunteers have made monumental efforts to restore many of the buildings on camp and make the location safe and functional for scouts today. If you are curious about taking your own troop to Treasure Island either for weekend camping or a summer camp experience make sure to check out this video.
