MOONGLOW ~ The Diamonds

Описание к видео MOONGLOW ~ The Diamonds

MOONGLOW ~ The Diamonds ~ Mercury Records. Words by Eddie DeLange and music by Will Hudson. Recorded by both Artie Shaw's & Benny Goodman's Orchestra's.

Today, The Diamonds are criticized by a few brainless wonders, for the fact that they recorded "some" material that had been recorded previously by black performers. In all actuality, they recorded versions of Buddy Holly's "WORDS OF LOVE", The Royal Teens, "BELIEVE ME", & others etc. etc. who were white, so this wasn't a so-called "racial thing". In fact, Otis Williams & The Charms, who were black, would have to be looked at negatively also, since they too, recorded versions of songs which had previously been recorded by other performers of the day, some who were white.

Multiple versions of the top songs of the day wasn't a new concept by the 1950's. Though frowned upon by some today, who obviously are unfamiliar with the history of the recording business, multiple versions have continuously been recorded on different recording labels, by a huge list of top talent, dating back well into the 1920's & beyond. Competition between recording companies and performers has always existed and those, today, who are making negative comments about The Diamonds, need to do a bit more research, before using the race-card.

MOONGLOW was composed by Will Hudson and lyricist, Eddie DeLange in 1934. The two would co-lead a relatively good band under the name The Hudson-DeLange Orchestra.
