We all know about the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Due to this most of the Ukraine support countries stopped doing business with Russia.
But India still maintains a good relationship with Russia.
Even though the US forced us to stop doing business, India wants to keep it.
Therefore Russia has said it will continue to sell crude oil to India, even though the United States is putting pressure on both countries.
Russia also said India will still get a 5% discount on the oil.
This was confirmed by Evgeny Griva, a top Russian trade official in India.
The United States is not happy that India is buying oil from Russia, especially because of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The U.S. says that by buying Russian oil, India is helping Russia make money for the war.
Because of this, the U.S. has added a 25% extra tax on some goods from India.
This means Indian products going to the U.S. now face a total of 50% tax.
Russian official, Roman Babushkin, said that India is going through a tough time but added that Russia trusts India.
So the Russian discount is 5% for now and in the future it may increase.
Since the Russia-Ukraine war began in 2022, India has been buying more and more oil from Russia.
Western countries have asked India to stop buying Russian oil, but India has said it will do what is best for its own people.
This is because Russian oil is cheaper and helps India save money.
India is the third-largest country in the world when it comes to oil imports.
Not only now, India and Russia are very close to independence.
