MOVIES MADE IN EL CHORRILLO, ALMERIA, SPAIN

Описание к видео MOVIES MADE IN EL CHORRILLO, ALMERIA, SPAIN

El Chorrillo is set in the foothills of the Sierra Alhamilla Mountains of Almeria in the municipality of Pechina. It was traversed by a mining railroad towards the end of the 19th century. The track is long gone but buildings remain which together with the scenic values afforded by the surrounding hills now attract major movie companies to the area. The downside for movie making enthusiasts is that when movie making gets under way roads and tracks in the area suddenly become blocked off and security guards may well frisk anyone they suspect of taking illicit photographs! So all we have is what they leave behind. The local councils efforts to retain this particular site as a possible tourist attraction came to nothing so the site and what little remains is open to the public. If the council had been successful it would, of course, have made the location unavailable for other movie productions. The area generally has become a regular location for movie makers. At the time of writing (2018) a western "Les Freres Sisters" has been completed and released following filming at nearby Fort Bravo/Texas Hollywood. In recent times El Chorrillo has been used for the filming of Exodus: Gods & Kings (2014), Assassin's Creed (2016), Penny Dreadful (2016) and Game of Thrones (2016). Ascribed to Pechina but I didn't spot El Chorrillo in them were The Savage Guns (1962), The Mercenary (1968), Play Dirty (1969) and El Caso Almeria (1984). Information at present is sketchy to non-existent so any corroboration would be appreciated. Special mention should be made of Exodus: Gods & Kings as this was a blockbuster movie that reignited interest of the venue for movie making in 2014. The producers used an extensive amount of CGI and green screen technology but made many additions to the setting including Pharaoh's Temple and the Adobe Houses at the other one of the valley which were utilised 2 years later to represent the Dothraki Village in Game of Thrones, Season 6. Any constructive information on this site would be welcomed in the comments section. My use of the music of Ennio Morricone may be slightly off topic regarding the movies but very fitting for the spaghetti western landscape!
