In this episode in our series of bonsai techniques we will be covering the first stages from collected material to repotting into a shallower grow pot. The purpose of this progression series is to learn how take a tree from a grown material into a bonsai. When selecting for a truck line and front we evaluate the material to show off its best assets: nebari, width of the trunk, movement, branch placement, tapper. With a new spring growth extend and harden off it was time for its first haircut. We will be focusing on branch selection and placement. This video will be in conjunction of a series where we will dive deeper into Korean or Chinese Quince species. So please join us in this new series.
