What HAPPENS if you use an extension cord that is to THIN

In my opinion every extension cord should be able to handle 20 A. That’s what the wire in your House is rated four and it is a bad idea to put an extension cord that is smaller just so you can plug something bigger and on the other side. There’s a weak link in that week link is an extension cord that is less than A gauge less than 12. And the numbers are a little deceiving if you have a gauge of 14 or 16 these wires are actually smaller and carry less current. I’m sure advertisers use this to their advantage. Unless you want to calculate the amps every time you plug something in you should just make sure that your extension cord will handle the maximum of most items.
