Production notes for future me to look at later -
I was basically on auto-pilot this whole video, and I think it shows. Originally, this was just gonna be a 5 minute casual review with no real effort. It was only about half way through the video that I noticed how in depth I ended up going, so decided to pivot to a more standard review. Unfortunately though, that still left a lot of corners cut, as I wasn't going to start from scratch. So yeah, this video is a weird blend of low/regular effort. That's also why it has the intro, but no scores.
The script took forever here, as I didn't want to just repeat everything I said in the original God Gundam review. Tried to make this more focused on what makes it different instead. I think it turned out alright, though the script is much longer than I'd like. Probably because I rambled too much. I'm sort of losing that whole 'brevity' thing I focused on in the earlier videos. Not sure if it's for the better or not. Let me know in the comments if you prefer longer rambling videos or shorter, more to the point, videos.
The audio was fine. I recorded it kind of late at night and I honestly wasn't as peppy as usual. I also recorded a ton of extra rambling, but cut most of it out. Maybe if I ever made a Patreon or something, I could post the full 20 minute version.
Anyway, the audio sounds alright to my ears right now, but there's still too many mouth sounds. Can't quite figure out how to fix those.
Getting footage of this kit sucked lol. While I loved taking the pictures and even got pretty good at posing this brittle plastic, once I actually saw the images I was so bummed. The Canon R5 with the RF 100mm L lens just picks up too much dust and finger prints. I'm really annoyed with how gross this kit looks in this video. Not sure what I could've done differently. Just leaving it on my turn table for a single night would have it COVERED in dust. It's unreal how gross this kit can look after only a few hours on a shelf. Probably going to be a long time before I work on another plated kit lol.
I had recently moved to a new apartment, so had to rebuild the set. It's fairly cramped compared to the previous set, so I can't squeeze as many kits in the background, but I'm trying to make it work. I think I still need to rearrange things, as it looks pretty sloppy right now. The orange light isn't helping either. Looking forward to seeing what a nice blue/green light looks like.
There are a couple face/body reveals if you look close enough. I didn't think much of it at the time, as I knew the gold would distort the reflection anyway, but it's surprisingly clear. You really can make out my appearance here. Not a big deal, but the curves in the plating are like a fun house mirror. I look all gangly and weak. Plus my head is turned away and hunched over to see the monitor. I promise, I'm not a scrawny gangly dude like in this video, I'm actually 6' 3, weigh 235lb and can bench press a car if I wanted to. I'd show you, but like, I don't want to right now, so... yeah... Just take my word for it!
The editing took forever, because I initially skipped a bunch of shots. Again, this was supposed to be a low effort video. When I pivoted to regular effort, I had to go back and get most of those shots. This lead to a very stop-and-go editing style and some shots not syncing up, like that awkward transition at the end of the gimmicks section.
The thumbnail is something I made in about 30 minutes. I kinda miss the photoshopped title cards, but they were just too much effort. Maybe for the next big review.
Here's some of the music I had on in the background while working on this. Do people actually find these interesting? It's kinda just for me, as I think it's fun to look back at what I was into. But if you guys like similar music, then idk, follow the twitter and let me know. I'll post more music I find.
