Six piano sonatinas first appeared in print in 1808 by Artaria, Vienna's first major music publishing house. They are arrangements of Mozart's five divertimentos for three basset horn, K.Anh.229/439b, written in 1783. As of now, the arranger of these pieces is unidentified, but Austrian composer Ferdinand Kauer is a likely candidate. The notable changes in the sonatinas compared to the original are the following:

-The order of movements is different.
-Some of the trios have been exchanged with others on the set.
-Some movements have their key changed.
-Some movements using sonata form have a shortened recapitulation.
-The voice leading has been made more suitable for the piano.

Today, piano teachers use these sonatinas as intermediate piano music. Virtuoso pianist Cyprien Katsaris was the first to record the entire set of sonatinas in the 1990s.

Mvt 2 MENUETTO, Allegretto (arranged from Diventindo V Mvt 2)
A: (02:31) first half of the sentence. A melody accompanied by thirds in the base.
(02:37) second half of the sentence. The bass imitates the soprano line.
(02:47) ends on a Perfect Authentic Cadence.
B: (03:00) the left and right hands swap what they’re doing for four measures, before they swap back to their original roles.
(03:05)The following section pushes into A major, and leads to a sustained trill, and then ends on a A major 7th chord.

TRIO
A: (04:10) a melody with alberti bass.
B: 04:30 a brief section in G major, before ending in D major.

Mvt 3 RONDO, Allegro (arranged from Diventindo I mvt 5)
A: (05:43) This section is in two groups of 8 measure sections with repeats. It has a bass with a melody mainly in thirds.
B: (06:08) Triplets in the key of G major. Also in two sections of 8.

Coda: (06:57) the bass rises and falls as 8th notes, and the melody now includes 16th notes.
