Naxalism is the biggest problem in Chhattisgarh, but in the last few years Naxal attacks have reduced in the state. Naxalites have shrunk in the last few years. Apart from Bastar and Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh, Bijapur is the most Naxal-affected area, but now the network of Naxalites has been completely destroyed in Bijapur and now there is peace there.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday reached the stronghold of Naxalite's biggest commander Hidma and held a discussion with the villagers by setting up a Chaupal under a Mahua tree in Gundam village of Bijapur district. During this, Amit Shah talked about Naxalism being confined to a small area. Let us tell you that Gundam area of ​​​​Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh is just 10 kilometers away from Naxalite commander Hidma's village Puvarti.

Gundam village in Bijapur district is the stronghold of Bastar's most dreaded Maoist leader and People's Liberation Guerrilla Army commander Madvi Hidma. Gundam was once used by Naxalites as their training camp, although now it is free from Naxalites. It was at this place that Naxalites used to celebrate their 'Shahidi Diwas'. Security forces had set up a security camp or Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Gundam on February 14 this year.

Hidma is the youngest member of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee and has masterminded several deadly attacks, including the 2010 Dantewada massacre in which 75 CRPF personnel were killed. Apart from this, Hidma was also involved in the attack in Sukma in 2017, in which more than two dozen people were killed. He has a reward of Rs 1 crore on his head, but he has managed to escape capture.

Home Minister Amit Shah said, 'On the initiative of PM Narendra Modi, we have set a target to end Maoist terror by 31 March 2026, as a result of which Naxalism has been confined to a small area today. Security camps have been set up in various places of Bastar to free the villagers from the fear of Maoist terror. An atmosphere of peace and tranquility is being established in the Bastar region.'

Amit Shah appealed to the villagers to join the mainstream of development by joining as many schemes as possible. He said that there is a hospital facility in the camp established near Gundam, where villagers can go without hesitation for free treatment and not rely on witchcraft. Amit Shah informed the villagers about various public welfare schemes including free 35 kg rice, Mahtari Vandan Yojana. He visited the primary school located in the village and took information about studies from the children and motivated the children to come to school regularly. At the same time, he also made women aware of the benefits of education. He said, definitely send children to school. Problems will be solved only through education.
