We went to Cecret Lake up at Alta resort in Utah. It is a beautiful lake nestled in the upper basin, just below the devil’s castle. I recommend that anyone with an interest in hiking pay this spot a visit.
Cecret Lake Trail is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Alta, UT that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from June until September.

The trail runs west from the campground. It climbs a gentle slope, with about 300 feet of elevation gain. Along the way there are interpretive signs with information about the basin, its plants, animals and geology.

From the lake you can return the way you came, or explore the area. Swimming is not permitted in the lake.

After Cecret Lake, more ambitious hikers can continue to the top of Sugarloaf Peak.

Hiking to Cecret Lake is a memorable outing, especially during wildflower season. It's also spectacular in early October when the leaves have changed color. Rarely, during the busiest times, the parking lot at the trail head may become too full and you may not be able to drive all the way to Albion Campground. If this happens, you can walk up the dirt road from the Alta parking lot to the trailhead. On weekends and holidays during the summer, the town of Alta provides a shuttle from Alta's Albion Base parking lot to the trailhead.
