In this video, I walk through a more advanced technique for shaping the end of a wide tabletop with a subtle, intentional arc instead of a straight line. This walnut top is headed for a coffee table, and because it already has natural live edges, I wanted the end to carry that same organic feel.

I’ll show you how I lay out the curve, how I create a flexible guide using a simple pipe clamp and scrap wood, and how to use a router to make controlled, repeatable passes that result in a clean, consistent arc. We’ll also talk about why guide stiffness matters, how to manage depth in multiple passes, and what to do when your router bit won’t quite reach all the way through the slab.

This is a practical method you can use anytime you want to add refinement and movement to a large panel, tabletop, or slab project without overcomplicating the process.
