Weld Testing Methods

Описание к видео Weld Testing Methods

How to test the strength and quality of welds? Keep watching as we go deep into weld testing and explain the difference between destructive weld testing and non-destructive weld testing.

DESTRUCTIVE VS NON-DESTRUCTIVE WELD TESTING
Welded parts need to be able to withstand the stresses that they're designed to. For example, the joint between two metal beams used in a bridge cannot afford to fail. This is where weld testing is useful.
There are 2 types of testing: destructive and non-destructive. The latter is more commonly used, as it can test weld strength and quality without destroying the part/item.

We'll also explore these individual weld tests, too. What are they and what is done?

DESTRUCTIVE WELD TESTS
Macro etch testing
Fillet weld break test
Transverse tension test
Guide bend test

NON-DESTRUCTIVE WELD TESTS
Visual test
Radiographic test
Magnetic particle test
Liquid penetration test
Ultrasonic test
