Chickasaw potter Dixie Brewer demonstrates the ancient art of handcrafting pinch pots, which have been used for hundreds of years. Most of the pots were utilitarian and temporary, since they weren’t glazed. All pots and baskets were destroyed at the end of each year, and new ones were created the following year. Anything that survived was strictly for ceremonial use.
