WAIPIO VALLEY ROAD Hike on the Big Island of Hawaii

We hiked down into the Waipio Valley on the Big Island of Hawaii. The only road leading into the valley is one of the steepest in the world with an average grade of 25%--and in some places reaching 40%!

This is a beautiful place to hike with an excellent black sand beach at the bottom of the valley. The hike back up this road is a challenge with a great sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top.
