The struts to the gas box door on our Bailey 534 fell apart and would not hold the door up - very frustrating as this made it particularly difficult to attach a gas bottle with a heavy door on your head! We replaced the mechanical struts with TWO 29cm gas-struts bought from Amazon for under £15. You will need:

2x 29cm low force gas struts
A load of M6 nuts (8-10), bolts (4x 3cm) & washers
(you may prefer M6 nylocks to double-bolting)
No3 Pozidriv screwdriver
A bradawl or blunt nail
Drill
Grinder or file
A bench vise or lots of patience
