Matthew 8-9

I. Love For The Outcast (8:1-4)

Jesus came "down from the mountain"...
"And a leper came to Him ...

What are some 'outcast' people we might encounter today?

II. Love for the Sick & Oppressed (8:14-17)

Jesus came to Peter's home where Peter's mother-in-law was sick.
"He touched her hand, and the fever LEFT her.'"

"If we don't have the gift of healing like Jesus did, how can we show love to those who are sick today?"

II. Love for the Sinner (9:1-8)
They bring this paralyzed man to Jesus, and He looks at him and what is the first need He addresses?

Let's love people like Jesus loved them.
Make sure we share with them the most important thing: the forgiveness of their sins."

Active Seeking: Jesus takes the initiative to find individuals, just as a shepherd searches for a lost sheep.

Definition of "Lost": This includes those broken by sin, fear, doubt, or who are spiritually aimless.

The Goal of Salvation: To rescue, redeem, and bring people home to God.

Essentially, this is a message of hope that no one is beyond reach, and Jesus actively works to bring them back.

1 Timothy 1:15: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners".

Matthew 18:11: "For the Son of Man came to save the lost.

Ezekiel 34:16: An Old Testament prophecy where God promises, "I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed."
