Welcome to one of the most divine treks in India — Tungnath–Chandrashila Trek, the journey to the world’s highest Shiva temple (around 12,000 ft above sea level).
In this vlog, I’ll take you through the beautiful trail from Chopta to Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila Peak, surrounded by stunning Himalayan views and pure spiritual energy.

🌿 Tungnath History (Short & Interesting):

Tungnath Temple is one of the Panch Kedar temples — the five sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand.
According to legend, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva’s forgiveness for killing their kin. Shiva avoided them and took the form of a bull (Nandi) and disappeared into the earth.

At Tungnath, the arms (bahu) of Lord Shiva appeared.
The other body parts manifested at:

Kedarnath – Hump (back)

Rudranath – Face

Madhyamaheshwar – Navel

Kalpeshwar – Hair (Jata)


Together, these five temples form the Panch Kedar.

Just above Tungnath lies Chandrashila Peak, believed to be the spot where Lord Chandra (Moon God) meditated to atone for his sins. The peak offers a breathtaking 360° panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba peaks.
