How I create Avant-Garde Style Beauty Photography

Описание к видео How I create Avant-Garde Style Beauty Photography

In this Photo Deconstruction, I explore an avant-garde beauty look using techniques like shutter drag and precise color grading for maximum impact. We delve into a creative play day where pearl appliques transformed the subject's appearance, highlighting various lighting setups and in-camera methods that shaped this captivating image.

First, what does Avant-garde mean?

"Avant-garde style photography" refers to a type of photography that explores unconventional and innovative approaches to capturing beauty. It often involves experimental techniques, unusual compositions, and artistic interpretations that challenge traditional norms and push boundaries in beauty aesthetics. This style aims to evoke thought, emotion, and a sense of uniqueness in the viewer, often departing from mainstream or conventional beauty photography.

💡Lighting (3)

1. Main Light: Westcott Optical Spot with a dappled gobo, providing irregular light patterns on the subject's face.

2. Fill Light: Bounced bare strobe in the top left corner of the room, providing soft, ambient fill to lift shadows.

3. Background Light:: Profoto D2 with a 20-degree grid, illuminating a Savage Universal Blue Mist background to create a gradient effect and separation from the subject.

🖌 Post Processing

1. Raw Processing: Adjustments made to enhance highlights, shadows, clarity, and color tones directly from the raw file.

2. Color Grading:: Applied a cyan hue to highlights and blue tones to shadows to achieve an analogous cool color scheme.

3. Retouching: Removed imperfections such as skin textures and cleaned up edges of pearl appliques.

4. Fine-tuning: Adjusted eye highlights and shading for balance and emphasis.
