Everyone knows, you can splinter from an Armor Ignore attack, and the hatchet's other ability being disarm is what actually makes it the best... The counter attack is just what makes this op.

If someone parry's your AI attack, you don't lose the mana, while with a nerve strike, you do. So the hatchet (AI) is also more damage to mana efficient, meaning you can toggle the 'AI' ability more often, allowing the counter-strike a higher chance to counter while you actually have AI toggled.

Yes, you can counter with a bokuto or other weapon, but nerve strikes have reduced damage on the 2nd hit, while AI's always do 35 dmg.

Parry chance with a two handed weapon is 40%, compared to 26% with a one handed weapon, and the evade chance is increased.
