Andries ten Cate (1796-1858) wrote the first Dutch opera which was staged in 1831. He was very important as a teacher, conductor and composer in the musical life of Amsterdam in the 19th century.
He composed cantatas, operas, songs, numerous string quartets and quintets, and this very nice oboe concerto.
