With its 521 PS, the Cayenne Turbo S from January 2006 went down as the second most powerful road car ever built by Porsche up to that time after the Carrera GT. Thanks to further development of the turbocharger system, the eight-cylinder biturbo engine delivered 52 kW (71 PS) more than the Cayenne Turbo.

The high-performance car with its robust yet responsive chassis was characterised by an all-wheel drive system for optimum power transmission. The chassis system also impressed with an adjustable air suspension with integrated ride height control.

The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system was responsible for power distribution. In the basic mode, this transferred 62 per cent of the power to the rear wheels and the rest to the front wheels. The new improved brake system required the use of 20-inch SportTechno wheels. Alongside this differentiating feature, the Cayenne Turbo S could be recognised only by the model designation on the rear lid, door entry sills and centre console.
