I lived in a house at the edge of town,
Where the porch light hummed like a tired old tune,
Floorboards bent with a patient sound
Under the weight of the moon.
Just me and the clock and the ticking walls,
And a sink that would drip in rhyme—
But sometimes it felt like the silence paused
As if waiting its turn with mine.

Doors would open an inch or two
Like someone polite slipped through.
I’d hear soft steps in the hallway bend
Where the shadows quietly grew.
My toaster died one Sunday morn,
No spark, no glow, no heat—
By evening it worked as if reborn,
