13 TRAINS - Railfanning Evening at Umroli - a Speeding Spot on Western Railway!

Описание к видео 13 TRAINS - Railfanning Evening at Umroli - a Speeding Spot on Western Railway!

This is a compilation of videos of a wonderful evening that I spent at Umroli railway station of the Western Railway. My friend and I boarded the 03:19 pm Dahanu fast local from Churchgate. It dropped us at Umroli in exactly 2 hours, at 05:19 pm. We saw many trains passing the station at good speed, some with nice honking as well. Here is a list :

1. 05:21 pm - Closely following the local train we were in, comes the 19577 Tirunelveli - Jamnagar Express hauled by a Tughlakabad (TKD) WDM-3A (14066R). It approached at a slow speed and the accelerated since it did not have a clear signal due to the local train. It was nice to begin the session with a diesel.

2. 05:30 pm - The 19024 Firozpur Cantt - Mumbai Central Janta Express hauled by a monster locomotive - a Ghaziabad (GZB) WAP-1 (22076) - comes speeding past the station at a good speed. This train is known to get offlink locomotives quite regularly.

3. 05:54 pm - At its maximum permissible speed (MPS) of 110 kmph, comes the 12995 Bandra Terminus - Udaipur City Superfast Express with a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-5 (30159).

4. 06:01 pm - The 59037 Virar - Surat Shuttle pulled by a brown colour Valsad (BL) WAG-5A (23405) skips Umroli, one of the rare stations that the shuttle gets to skip, otherwise halting everywhere. It sounded like the locomotive had a sore throat horn.

5. 06:14 pm - The train I was waiting for, the King of the Western Railway - the 12951 Mumbai Central - New Delhi Rajdhani Express burns the tracks as it sizzles past at flat 130 kmph, the maximum for the section! The locomotive in charge was Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7 (30480).

6. 06:20 pm - The 12907 Bandra Terminus - Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin Maharashtra Sampark Kranti Express follows just 6 minutes behind the Rajdhani, hauled by a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7 (30484). This was overtaken by the Rajdhani at Kelve Road station. It did some nice honking while passing.

7. 06:28 pm - Finally after seeing so many trains go towards the north, we saw one more Mumbai bound train - the 12936 Surat - Bandra Terminus Intercity Express hauled by a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7 (30722).

8. 06:47 pm - We went on the other platform to change the angle of the shots. The 59046 Valsad - Bandra Terminus Shuttle honks and speeds towards its next halt at Palghar, led by a Valsad (BL) WAG-5P (23285).

9. 06:54 pm - Shortly after the shuttle, in the other direction comes the 19217 Bandra Terminus - Jamnagar Saurashtra Janta Express hauled by a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-5 (30065). This rake was almost entirely in Utkrisht livery.

10. 07:02 pm - Another high speed blast by the deputy king - the 12953 Mumbai Central - Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Rajdhani Express led by a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7 (30598).

11. 07:19 pm - The 22955 Bandra Terminus - Bhuj Kutch Express with a beautiful looking mid level headlamp Vadodara (BRC) WAP-4E locomotive (22279) with the headlight on and great honking too. Notice the person in red walking in front of the train initially.

12. 07:39 pm - This is a bonus video I got, I had packed up my camera and was waiting for a Churchgate local to head back home, when I saw trains approaching from either side. I recorded this on my phone camera. It was the 16311 Shri Ganganagar - Kochuveli Express hauled by twin diesel locomotives from Ernakulam (ERS) and it crossed the 12921 Mumbai Central - Surat Flying Ranee Express, which has non-AC double decker coaches, hauled by a Vadodara (BRC) WAP-7. I could not read the locomotive numbers of any of these trains due to the low light and the speed. But it was the best way to end the session!

Hope you enjoy the compilation, let me know which train you found the best!
